Transformational Data Collaboration
The Transformational Data Collaboration is an initiative of the Australian Health Research Alliance. Under the ‘Data Integration’ priority area of the ‘AHRA Data Driven Healthcare’ activity stream.
The collaboration has a singular goal:
To utilise the unique open and collaborative nature of AHRA to help develop and support national data initiatives where an open, inclusive and non-competitive environment is required.
How will this be achieved?
Provide open availability of common medical terminologies and data mappings for the research community (Australia and Internationally)
Leverage such mappings as a part of providing resources to researchers to support the uplift of their data to a common data model - the OHDSI OMOP Common Data Model.
Establish a community of practice and training for the use of common data models.
Scope
- Primary care data.
- Hospital Electronic Medical Records.
- Administrative data health data.
Underpin common data models with mechanisms to allow for a standards-based assessment of the quality of data in repositories that helps ensure researchers understand if specific datasets are able to answer the questions they pose.
